Description:
Be careful what you wish for.

Ophelia’s had a wicked crush on Martin since they were kids, but she was always just his geeky little friend. Then, on the first day of her junior year, he’s suddenly and wildly attracted to her. She can’t imagine what’s changed, but shocking her small school’s social order fills her with vindication for insults suffered.

Ophelia meets Adrian right after and true love extinguishes the wicked crush. In secret, he gives her courage against a specter threat.

Tristan is pale and hungry, and draws Martin’s immediate ire. He knows things about Ophelia which she assumes are delusions brought on by an aggravated illness like her own, diabetes. When battle breaks out between his ancient race and new blood, even the courage of her secret love might be crushed.

Review:
Crushed Sugar is a prequel to Sugar Rush. Having not read Sugar Rush I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to follow the story. However it was quite easy to follow and really enjoyed it.

Crushed Sugar is very short story with about 50 pages. It is set before Sugar Rush, so it could easily be the first book in the series. It follows Ophelia as she starts her Junior year at high school. She has had a crush on Martin forever and when school starts he starts to take an interest in her. But its very clear that there is something off with Martin and he is kinda creepy. Even though it confusing her she goes along with it. But its very clear that there is something off with Martin and he is kinda creepy. Enter the new boys. Adrian at first seems very distant and weird. However, Ophelia seems drawn to him. Tristan (I just have to say Tristan is one of my favourite names) He really isn't in the story much. He only really has two small sense. So i can't really form an opinion on him.

The story is a very short and quick read. I read it in about 30 mins. And even though it very short there is never a dull moment. Although there isn't really anything huge in it. As its just a prequel containing the backstory to Sugar Rush.

Overall, I found this very cute and some parts quite witty. If you are thinking of reading Sugar Rush then I'd suggest reading this first so see if you are going to like it or not. I will no doubt be buying Sugar Rush very soon. As I really want to see whats happens in Ophelias story.

I want to thank Kimber An for providing a copy Crushed Sugar for review. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read Sugar Rush

  1. Thank you, Siobhan! I've always liked the name Tristan too, but never created a character to give it to until this one. Tristan means 'sadness' and (you probably know this) was made famous by the myth of Tristan & Isolde.
