UK vs US: Under the Never Sky

Photobucket

Most of you know I have been doing this since I started the blog. I love comparing different covers for the same book. So now that there is two of us on the blog I thought I would actually make it a regular feature on a Monday and a Friday. And since Destiny is from the US and Siobhan is from the UK it would even better. So here is todays UK vs US.

Destiny's Pick
UK                                            US
UNDER THE NEVER SKY by VERONICA ROSSI

US publication January 3, 2012
UK publication February 7, 2012

Exiled from her comfortable home in the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland—known as The Death Shop—are slim. In Reverie, she spent time with her friends roaming virtual environments called Realms. But in The Death Shop, even the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild—a savage. He’s also her only hope for survival. A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry sees Aria as sheltered and fragile—everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he also needs Aria’s help; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, they come together reluctantly, and embark on a journey challenged as much by their prejudices as by cannibals and wolves. Their unlikely alliance will forever change the fate of all who live UNDER THE NEVER SKY.
Destiny: I really like the swirling pink letters on the UK cover. They are absolutely stunning. Overall though, the US cover really captures the feel of a dystopian novel. It looks like the main character, Aria, is walking under a beautiful sky and really captures the essence of the title. If I were to pass the UK edition in a bookstore, I might glance at it, but I know FOR SURE I would stop and pick up the US edition. So, the US cover wins for me!!

Siobhán: I agree with Destiny on this one. I really like the font and the pink colour theme that is happening in the UK cover. However, I don't like the image the UK one uses. The US one is AMAZING! It's bold and dramatic and capture the essence of a Dystopian novel. The image of  the girl screams "look at me I'm going to kiss ass" where the UK one looks more romantic and just not appealing. So yeah US!!!!

Winner: US
