Description:
The year is 2032, sixteen years after a deadly virus—and the vaccine intended to protect against it—wiped out most of the earth’s population. The night before eighteen-year-old Eve’s graduation from her all-girls school she discovers what really happens to new graduates, and the horrifying fate that awaits her.

Fleeing the only home she’s ever known, Eve sets off on a long, treacherous journey, searching for a place she can survive. Along the way she encounters Caleb, a rough, rebellious boy living in the wild. Separated from men her whole life, Eve has been taught to fear them, but Caleb slowly wins her trust...and her heart. He promises to protect her, but when soldiers begin hunting them, Eve must choose between true love and her life.

Review:
Eve by Anna Carey is a wonderfully written dystopian novel. It opens with a letter from Eve's mother to Eve from before the plague hits the country. Then chapter one begins sixteen years later where Eve is at School where she is being taught survival and life lessons. Soon she realizes all is not as it seems for those who graduate and she makes the shocking decision to leave School. At this point the novel breaks into action speed.

Eve sets out on her own, trying to find a settlement that will allow her to live freely away from the new government. While traveling, she comes across a girl named Arden from School, whom she was not particularly close with, but now the girls are forced to rely on each other for survival.

Like most dystopian novels, love is forbidden, but usually found, and that is the case here with Eve and Caleb, a boy she meets along her journey to freedom. Their relationship is a significant part of the plot, but in no way would this be considered a romance.

One thing that really stands out in this story as opposed to some others, is Eve's desire to survive. The obstacles that Eve, Arden, and Caleb face are huge and in most cases, impossible to overcome; however, the three find strength within themselves and within each other.

Anna Carey is a master of surprise as she pulls out twist after twist in this novel. Most stories have one major twist that leaves readers breathless at the end, but Carey throws her first one in less than a fourth of the way into the book and never loses her momentum.

This book is a definite must read for lovers of dystopian novels. Anna Carey wrote a stunning story that will tug at your heart-strings and have you channeling your basic instincts for survival.

Ifrah, I highly recommend it! The only thing I dislike is how long I am going to have to wait for the next book since this hasn't even released yet! :)

  6. The best way to describe this book is to imagine Lauren Oliver's Delirium but taking place exclusively in the Wilds and throwing in more characters and action :)
