Published: June 4th 2011
Publisher: Egmont Books Ltd
Genre: Younger Reader, Fantasy, Adventure

Description:

Twin siblings Jack and Jaide discover they are pivotal to a secret supernatural organisation that protects the earth from marauding Evill. Portland might seem like a quiet coastal town, and their grandmother is perhaps no dottier than anyone else's, but it soon becomes apparent that the strange things going on around them are anything But ordinary. It's all very well discovering that you suddenly have magical powers, but when you don't know exactly what they are, or how to use them, then facing impending peril doesn't seem like a very good idea at all...

Review:
Thank you to Egmont for giving me this chance to read read the arc copy of this novel.

Troubletwister is a fun read about twins Jack and Jaide as they embarked on adventure that changes their lives. They are forced to go live with their Grandma after their house is detroyed and thats were the story really gets going. They two characters are just fantastic, they are very likeable. They are very quick on the mark that there is something about Grandma X and they are determind to find out what. Jaide is the more outgoing type always trying to get Jack to explore when they know they shouldn't. Jack, seems to be comes across as more of a think things through kind of boy and I think I prefered him to Jaide.

Grandma X I liked from the minute she appeared. I would like a Grandma like her. She has so much mystery around and its very intriguing and like Jaide and Jack you just need to find out more.

The story itself was a little slow at first and it wasn't until the twins when to live with Grandma X that I was hooked. The authors have created a story that even though its aimed at age 10+, I feel that young and old will enjoy this. Its funny, dark and The Evil, well thats is creepy. So many twists and turns I didn't see coming.

This is sure to be a huge hit amoung fans of fantasy adventures who like their story action packed from start to finish. I am really looking forward to the next installement and I will continuei to follow the adventures of Jack, Jaide and Grandma X.

However, she soon learns that the King is not as benevolent as she thought and things in the country are not quite as they seem. When an event occurs that changes her perception of her family, Bryony has to decide where her loyalty and friendships lie.

Review:
I just want to thank Annette for kindly signing this book and letting me review.

Blood and Allegiance was a wonderful and beautifully written story set in a Imaginary Medievil world. I haven't read many books in the proper Fantasy genre and I am going to start. I really enjoyed this and read in a few hours.

Blood and Allegiance follows the story of Bryony who is sent to live with her cousin, The King, after growing in an abbey with nuns after her parents "died". Bryony is a really sweet girl. And I real role model I feel for younger readers. She isn't selfish and she loves her friends. When she is sent to live with the cousin she soon befriends her servant, Milly. Milly is a reallu bubbly character you can't help but smile at.

Throughout the story there are alot of different characters. However, not too many that it gets confusing. There are some you  will love and of course some you are going to hate like the King. King appears at first to care for Bryony, he wouldn't send for her to live with him if he didn't care right? As the story continues we see the character he really is. He is selfish and brutal and I just didn't like him. I real villian that I think boys will like lol.

Annette Hart has produced a wonderful story that is perfect for children ages 10+. It will make a fun and light bedtime story that will be enjoyed by young and old.

Review:
I just want to thank Random House/Corgi Books for giving me this to review.

I have really never had an interest in graphic novels. I have only ever bought one and that was the Twilight graphic novel just because it was Twilight. So when the publishers contacted me about reviewing this I was unsure at first but thought I would give it try and I am really glad I did. When it came in the post my four year son clocked it and wanted it. So first I read it myself them we sat up last night and read together. We both enjoy it.

The Amulet of Samarkand Graphic Novel is an adaptions of the orginal novel (which I have yet to read) its follows the story of a young magican Nathaniel after he summons a Djinni called Bartimaeus and takes them both on a action packed adventure. That will surely be enjoyed by the young and old.

The art work that is done by Lee Sullivan and Colour by Nicholas Chapuis is just wonderful. Its bright and colourful and really is easy on the eyes. Usually I have seen graphic novels that only use black and white and maybe that is the reason why I have never really took an interest in them. However, this really captures you and it is very easy to follow. However, my only negative would be the size of the writing. It is rather small and even though I wear glasses to read and I could read it ok. I think if some people would struggle with the text size.

Overall, a great fun read that will make you want to go out and buy the orginal books. And a huge thumbs up for a very happy four year boy who is totally in love with this graphic novel.
