As usual, Val's vampire enemies (they still call her The Slayer) want her dead. Even some of her fellow demons may be less than trustworthy, since they'd like to grab the legendary book of spells before she does. Val has a personal claim to the Encyclopedia--her demon father left it to her when he died--but someone stole it recently. And that can't be good.Battling vamps and dodging demons, Val struggles to unravel the mystery and find the thief. At the same time, she's fighting her attraction to sweet, sexy Shade--her favorite shadow demon. Rumor has it that Val will lose her part-demon, vampire-fighting powers if she gives herself to him. With a crowd of vamps and demons out to trick her or kill her, it's not a good time for her to risk her job as the city's best vampire hunter by falling in love. The stakes are high and aimed right at her heart. But Lola, Val's hungry little lust demon, doesn't like being denied. Will Lola finally get her way? What's a part-lust-demon-teen supposed to do? Whatever it takes.

The mucho powerful Encyclopedia Magicka has been stolen, someone in the Demon Underground is poisoning vamps, and Val's inner lust demon, Lola, is getting very restless since Val's now partnered with sexy Shade, the shadow demon with the blond good looks of an angel.

Review:
Try Me is the second installement in the Demon Underground series. It picks up straight after Bite Me (Book1) and its another great novel in the series.

Try Me follows Val as she is trying to cope with Dan ignoring her. So as Dan is pushing her away. She ends up in the arms to Shade, a shadow demon who is trying to help Val control her lust demon and its pretty clear that there is a chemistry between them and an attraction that is sizzling. Meanwhile some of the vamps from the "New Blood Movement" are acting rather crazy and no one knows why so its up to Val and her faithful hellhound to figure how why they are acting crazy.

Try me is a good sequel to Bite Me. I really enjoyed it once I got into it. At first it didn't grab me straight away like the first one. I just thought it was slow for the first couple of chapters. However, I did get into and the loved. Val is mainly still the same as book one. Strong, loyal but deep down vulnerable she still just wants to be accepted as her. She is really hurt when Dan starts to give her the cold shoulder but she is distracted when Shade starts to help her control lust demon. Now I love Shade, he is perfect for Val they bought just fit together and its perfect. He clearly cares for Val and because he is part demon himself he accepts Val for what she is that makes her happy. And of course my favourite character is back with his attitude and cuteness. Yes, Fang is still the best character and still makes me laugh. I want a hellhound.

I really should speak a little about the vampires. I never mentioned them in the first review. The head Vampire Alejandro set up the "New Blood Movement" in the first book. This is where they have human "donate" blood so they aren't feeding and killing human. I really liked this idea. And of course there are vamps who are against. In Try Me, some of the vamps are going crazy after drinking the blood. I'm still undecided on if I like the vampires in this series or not. I do like how they are not killing human but I'm still unsure about them.

Overall, Try me a good sequel to Bite me. Its a must read for Demon Underground fans. It's full of passion, friendship and mystery.

NOTE: For older Teens and Adults

Bite Me (Demon Underground #1) by Parker Blue

Kindle Size: 336 KB
Published: 30th September 2008
Publisher: Bell Bridge Books
Genre: YA Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

Description:
Life after high school is tough enough without having to go 15 rounds with your inner demon. Val Shapiro is just your ordinary, part-demon, teenaged vampire hunter with a Texas drawl. And a pet hellhound named Fang. Soon enough she finds herself deep in the underbelly of the city, discovering the secrets of the Demon Underground and fighting to save those she loves. Whether they love her back or not.

Review:
Bite Me is a first the Demon Underground Series by Parker Blue. It follow. Val, an eighteen year old who is part human, part lust demon (succubus). She prowls the streets of San Antanio at night hunting down Vampires and Killing them to feed her demon inside that she she calls Lola. However, everything changes for Val when one night her sixteen year sister hides in the backseat of her car which leads Val to being kicked out the house and soon is she is finds herself fighting for those she loves.

When I started this book I thought it had a Buffy feel to it. Now I love Buffy so that is a compliment. Val is a very strong main character. And yet she is very vulnerable after her parents kick her out. All she wants is for a normal life but that wont ever happen. You really feel for her when it comes to her Mother. I hated her mother. Her mother comes across like she doesn't really care about Val and yet Val never stops loving her and wants to be accepted by her. Val has a better relationship with her Stepdad Rick. He is the one who helped Val train to kill vampires and control her demon. However even he doesn't stand up for Val when her mother kicks her out. So I have really mixed feeling about the him. What I really love about Val is even though her parents are winning any parent of the year awards she is still very loyal to them and cares about them especially when her half sister Jen runs away from home and gets involved with vampires.

So yes, I really like Val. However, there are many characters on this book. Some you are going to love and some you will hate. My favourite character is simply wonderful. He gets the funny one liners. He is cute and loyal and furry, Lol. Yes my favourite character is Fang, Val's half dog and half hellhound best friend. Lol. I was honestly laughing out load. He come across all as having all attitude and snarky but deep down he is a big softy and adores Vals.

We also get introduced to the lovely Detective Dan. It is very clear there is a spark with him and Val. He is seven years older than Val and yet Val is quite mature that you forget. I have the image in my head that he looks like Mark Brennan who is an Australian actor in Neighbours.

Parker Blue has create a brillant story. It's a very quick read that had me hooked from the very start. Bite Me is edgy and fun and a great novel that can be enjoyed by the older teens and adults as it crosses over between YA and Adult Urban Fantasy.

I just want to thank NetGalley for providing this book for reviewing

MY TEASER

Dan took in my appearance "Very nice I've never seen you look so ... feminine." My  face heated and I felt suddenly awkward. I wasn't read used to compliments and didn't know how to react. My eyes locked with his and I couldn't help but sway towards him, like he has a magnet and I was a hapless pile of filings - Bite Me by Parker Blue
