Fairytale Friday #1

Fairytale Friday is a weekly feature where I will showcase some of the amazing fairytales out there and some of their retellings.

For my first Fairytale Friday I am picking Peter Pan!! OK, so I know what you are thinking? Cheating!!! Maybe so! A lot of people wouldn't class as the story of Peter Pan as a fairytale. But to me, it is! And who knows? In Hundreds of years it could become a beloved fairytale like, Snow White or Beauty and Beast.

Peter Pan has been my obsession since I was around 7. I was captivating by this cheeky chap. He was my first book crush. The Story (not the disney version) is actually quite dark which I loved! Don't get me wrong the disney version is my favourite disney movie ever!!! :) So in this post I want to share the original as well as a few of the retellings that are out there that involved Peter or other characters from the beloved story. Enjoy and Happy Reading!!

Title: Peter Pan

Neverland is home to Peter Pan, a young boy who has never grown up. On one of his visits to London, Peter makes the acquaintance of young Wendy Darling, whom he invites to travel with him to Neverland and become the mother of his gang of Lost Boys. Flying through the night sky to Neverland, Wendy and her brothers John and Michael are soon caught up in marvellous adventures with the Indian Princess Tiger Lily, the loyal fairy Tinker Bell and Peter's nemesis, a sinister hook-handed pirate known as Captain Hook. Spun by J.M. Barrie from his stage play of the same name, Peter Pan is a timeless classic of children's literature.

Title: Another Pan (Another #2)
Author: Daniel Nayeri, Dina Nayeri
In this pulse-quickening sequel to ANOTHER FAUST, an ancient Egyptian spell is turning the tony Marlowe School into a sinister underworld. Will all hell break loose? Sixteen-year-old Wendy Darling and her insecure freshman brother, John, are hitting the books at the Marlowe School. But one tome consumes their attention: THE BOOK OF GATES, a coveted Egyptian artifact that their professor father believes has magical powers. Soon Wendy and John discover that the legend is real—when they recite from its pages and descend into a snaking realm beneath the Manhattan school. As the hallways darken, and dead moths cake the floor, a charismatic new R.A. named Peter reveals that their actions have unleashed a terrible consequence: the underworld and all its evil is now seeping into Marlowe. Daniel Nayeri and Dina Nayeri return to reimagine Peter Pan as a twisty, atmospheric, and fast-paced fantasy about the perils of immortality
Title: Capt. Hook: The Adventures of a Notorious Youth
Author : JV Hart

With his long black curls, a shadowy family tree, and an affinity for pet spiders, James Matthew bears little resemblance to his starched-collar, blue-blooded peers at Eton. Dubbed King Jas., he stops at nothing to become the most notorious underclassman in the prestigious school's history. For James, sword fighting, falling in love with an Ottoman Sultana, and challenging the Queen of England are all in a day's skullduggery. But when he sets sail on a ship with a mysterious mission, King Jas.' dream of discovering a magical island quickly turns into an unimaginable nightmare.

Screenwriter J. V. Hart traces the evolution of J. M. Barrie's classic villain from an eccentric outcast to the scourge of Neverland.
