Description:
Beth's the bad girl that no-one wanted, not even parents. Ryan's the high school hero that everyone wants a piece of even if no-one knows the real him. Their paths should never have crossed now they're each others only life line. If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's mum they d send her mother to jail. So seventeen year old Beth protects her mum at all costs. Until the day she can't.  Suddenly sent to live with her uncle in a small town Beth's now stuck with an aunt who doesn't want her, and at a school that doesn't get her.  At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't go anywhere near a girl like Beth. . . . Ryan Stone is gorgeous, a popular jock and the town golden boy with secrets he can t tell anyone. Even his friends. As Ryan and Beth dare to let each other in, they're treading on dangerous ground and the consequences could change their worlds forever.

After reading Pushing The Limits I started this straight away. And that was a bad idea because I simply couldn't get into. However, I decided to stop reading and leave it a while and I am so glad because when I went to read it again I adored it.

Dare You To is Beth and Ryan's story. Beth appear in Pushing The Limits, she acts like nothing bothers her in it. However, in Dare You To we really see her and how her life is. She is sent to live with her uncle after an incident involving her mother's boyfriend. She doesn't want to be there. She wants to be back with Isaiah her best friend. But soon she starts to build a life for herself but she is willing to throw everything away if it will save her mother. I find Beth the type of character that you grow to love. As the story develops we learn so much about Beth and boy she has had a tough life. She is always trying to take care of mother. Growing up she puts up a shield between her and others. Until she meets Ryan, oh Ryan, the exact opposite of Beth. He comes across as perfect on the outside, but inside he is dealing so much drama. I liked him a lot. He truly cares for Beth even though at first he doesn't want to.

Dare You To, like Pushing The Limits is packed full of drama, teen romance and a tale of finding out what you really want. However, even though Pushing The Limits has a lot of serious issues, Dare You To just seems a lot more grittier and real. The characters feel so real that my heart actually aches for them. I went into reading this thinking there would be no way that it can even compared  to Pushing The Limits, well.....it was simply amazing. It was also in some aspects even better because of the nature of the plot and how the characters grow as individuals.

If you have read Pushing The Limits then you just HAVE to read Dare You To. Katie McGarry has hit the ball out of the ball and has set the bar on what I want from a contemporary read. She takes to you an emotional rollercoaster, makes you fall in love with the characters and refuses to let you go.

I can't wait for the next instalment and see what lies in store of Beth's best friend Isaiah. He is such an interesting character in both books. But I felt my heart shatter for him in Dare You To.

This is the US cover and I love it!!!!!!! It fits the story perfectly and really conveys the relationship between Beth and Ryan and once you have read the story you will understand the rain!! I can't wait to see the physical hardback to see if it will be like the hardback of pushing the limits.

  4. Wow, great review Siobhán! I agree with you that there should be a break in between reading Pushing the Limits and Dare You To. I did a re-read of PTL right before going into DYT and decided it was a bad idea. I had to put a couple of books in between because, like you, I couldn't get into it. I wanted more Noah and Echo ;) But after a break to clear my head of the previous story, I realized just how much of a jewel this book is. I can't wait for Isiah's story. It should be terrific. Thanks for following my blog and I can't wait to read more of your reviews.

    1. Think the Pushing The Limits just consumes you! So when you finish you are wanting more of Noah and Echo and going into Dare You To is a bad idea. A wee break is best than you have time to process PTL and then Dare You To is fresh and exciting.

Going to go insane waiting on Isaiah's story.
