Description:
When literature student Anastasia Steele interviews successful entrepreneur Christian Grey, she finds him very attractive and deeply intimidating. Convinced that their meeting went badly, she tries to put him out of her mind - until he turns up at the store where she works part-time, and invites her out. Unworldly and innocent, Ana is shocked to find she wants this man. And, when he warns her to keep her distance, it only makes her want him more. But Grey is tormented by inner demons, and consumed by the need to control. As they embark on a passionate love affair, Ana discovers more about her own desires, as well as the dark secrets Grey keeps hidden away from public view...

Review:
Do I need to do my own description here like I usually do? No, I mean everyone and their grannies know what this book is about. It's "That" book. The adult erotica fiction that is setting records and turned into a global phenomenon.

When I got these books for review I was super excited. I mean who wouldn't? It's THE book of the moment! However, I am not going to lie and say I loved it from the page one because I didn't I actually hated it at first. Yes, you heard me? This now obsessed blogger hated it for the first 110 pages. Thankfully though after the 110 page mark I was like a woman possessed! I devoured it. Went on one hell of a rollercoaster, I laughed, I cried (oh dear did I cry) and fell in love!

Fifty Shades of Grey for me started out so slow. If you follow me on facebook you know I was ready to punch the characters and throw the book out a window. I felt like the plot was going nowhere. I hated Christian with a passion. And thought there was something wrong with me because I didn't love him. And Ana, god help me. She was dull dull dull. And then there is one line on page 110 that was my undoing

"Ana, I'm going to make love to you, now".
I did a complete 180 on my feelings. I melted and felt giddy and excited like a naughty school girl! From then on I was head over heals in loved with messed up Mr. Grey. He is completely screwed up in the head but it it's plan as day just how much he cares about Ana. He could be so sweet when he wanted to be. Now Ana, she did annoy me for most of the book. And I wanted to slap her Inner Goddess. However, it works for the story. And I did grew to like her. For me, it's the relationship between these two characters that had me hooked. Watching their relationship grow. Not the actual sex.

So onto the sex...come on I can't very well talk about this book without mentioning it. Now, everyone has their opinions on this whether they loved it, found is disgusting or whatever. Personally I found the sex is hot, steamy and very very adult. It's BDSM - rather kinky. I am very opened minded when it comes to sex so reading this didn't shock me at all. I found it was very very exciting ;)

I haven't read many erotica novels so I don't really have much to compare this too and I know this is not the best written book in the world but it's addictive. I don't think I will ever get this obsessed with an erotica novel. I think about it all day, I am fighting the urge to start book 2. I am going crazy with it. And I am completely rambling now. So I am going to stop even trying to review this without giving away any spoilers because it's too hard. I just want people to give the book a chance! If you don't like it fair enough but don't judge it until you have at least finished the book. Keep an open mind and enjoy the ride!

Going to leave you with a quote of the back of the book because it pretty much sum it all up!

"Romantic, liberating and totally addictive, "Fifty Shades of Grey" is a novel that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever."

  3. Fantastic review Siobhan. I bought Fifty Shades of Grey a few weeks ago and I'll be diving in once I finish some review books.
I've heard so many mixed feelings about these books but I agree that everyone should at least give them ago, they may be surprised. :) After your review I'm even more anxious to start lol.

  4. Very well-written review! You made it interesting and informative, without including the dreaded spoilers. I review movies on my website, so I know how difficult it is to write a good review without spoiling something. I may have to check out these books myself.

    2. Yes, movies are almost impossible to review without giving something away. But, I often think the trailers are far bigger spoilers than anything I ever write.

  9. I haven't read this yet...but my boyfriend has. We were supposed to read it together, but he started it before me and couldn't stop. Now he is obsessed. I find it kind of hilarious that he got so into the series. I guess I have to borrow them from him sometime soon.
