Description:
In a dark vision of the near future, a terrifying reality TV show is taking place. Twelve boys and twelve girls are forced to appear in a live event called the Hunger Games. There is only one rule: kill or be killed.
When sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen steps forward to take her sister's place in the games, she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.
Review:
The Hunger Games follows the story Katniss, a teenage girl who volunters to take her sister, Prim's place in the The Hunger Games. She is then catapulted into a very stranged and twisted games that are used as a form to entertainment. 24 teenagers are put up against each other to battle until only one is left alive! Pretty heavy stuff for a YA novel but it works.
Suzanne Collins just has such a way with words that you feel yourself being transported into the book. Fighting side by side with Katniss and going through a rollercoaster of emotions. Aside from the setting and the battles that are thrown at Katniss, I think its the actual characters that make the story work so well. There is someone for everyone to like and of course hate. Some characters you will want to kill, some you will cry for and some you will just fall in love with e.g Peeta - The Boy with the Bread.
I urge everyone to go read this series if you haven't already!! And of course go see the movie , I haven't yet but from what I hear people are saying its the best movie adaptation from a book since Harry Potter!!! So that's got to good right?!?
*throws confetti* Glad to hear that you're loving this series . . . one of the best series in YA. Great review.
