UK vs US: Dark Parties

UK vs US is a feature on many other blogs. It simply a way to compare the UK and US covers of the same book. Comment below what you think is the best cover UK, US, TIE or NONE

UK                                                       US
Dark Parties by Sara Grant
UK: 20th Oct 2011
US: 23rd Aug 2011

Sixteen-year-old Neva has been trapped since birth. She was born and raised under the Protectosphere, in an isolated nation ruled by fear, lies, and xenophobia. A shield "protects" them from the outside world, but also locks the citizens inside. But there's nothing left on the outside, ever since the world collapsed from violent warfare. Or so the government says. Neva and her best friend Sanna believe the government is lying and stage a "dark party" to recruit members for their underground rebellion. But as Neva begins to uncover the truth, she realizes she must question everything she's ever known, including the people she loves the most.
For me this is a no brainer. I UK. And I mean I seriously love love love it. Its sooooo pretty and man I want that dress. Now I do like the US cover. I do. I really like the image of red snow flake. But if I seen it in a store I would walk by it.

Winner: UK

  1. I'm going to have to call tie on this one. I love both, UK because of how beautiful it is and US because it's so different. The style of the UK one seems to be pretty common nowadays so that makes me drawn to the US one but I still love them both.

  2. I think the US one is better, to be honest. It shows more of the mysterious-ness of the book, to me. The UK is pretty, but I'd expect it to be more about a romance instead of a a question of her birth in a weird nation.

  4. UK hands down! The US one reminds me of the cover of Ashes by Ilsa J. Bilk, which I'm reading at the moment! I can't wait to get my hands on this, I'm a huge Dystopian junkie. XD

  6. The UK cover wins hands down, attractionwise. I think the US cover lends itself more to a scifi novel, whereas the UK one looks more like fantasy; I'm not sure exactly what genre this novel is mind you- it sounds like the Truman Show hits dystopia! I do think, however, that the US one is perhaps a bit more original; the whole girl in a flowing dress thing has been done to death in my opinion.
