Description:
Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes the dead leave behind in the world . . . and the imprints that attach to their killers.
Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find dead birds her cat left for her. But now that a serial killer is terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, Violet realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.
Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved by her hope that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer . . . and becoming his prey herself.

Review:

At first I wasn't interested in this book and now I wonder why. It really is the kind of book that I really enjoy and is great.
It has so many elements: crime, mistery and romance (yeah, I can't help it) but all together is a great combination, plus the supernatural ability. Morbid and creepy ability to find death people but turns out to be helpful and Violet handle it very well.
I was at the edge of my seat when I was reading the point of view of the killer. It has my heart beating fast, getting to know the mind of this criminal and his "modus operandi" it was terrible how he enjoy what he was doing. And I liked that the rest of the book was told in third person which makes it more mysterious.
The characters were all very developed, you never get bored, different personalities and I like them all, the book has everything! Is it really hard explain everything without give away spoilers.
My favorite character by far is Jay. I really really liked his personality. He is funny, (always teasing Violet), kind, sweet and caring toward Violet; but he can play the hero part and it suit him perfectly, that is something I didn't expect from him. He is the kind of guy everyone would want to be friends with, including myself.
The relationship between Jay and Violet was honest, real and easy going, without much drama, only a little from Violet.

At the end I was crying (a little bit) and wondering what is going to happen. It has twists that you really didn't expect (at least I didn't see coming a couple of things). Overall is a really well written book and I enjoyed it.
