I have been in such a slump for reading this year. Almost every book I pick up I just can't get into it. However, after being told by a friend just how good this was was, I remembered that I had it for review so thought I would at least try it. And my god it did not disappoint in the slightest.
The Thousandth Floor is one of those rare books that you simply can't describe. It was phenomenal. Set in the future, the story centers around a bunch of teenagers. All dealing with family problems, drug issues and secrets that are eating at them. Each character plays an important part in the plot and as the story develops we see how all their life's are intertwined with one another.
The prologue is probably one of the best I have ever read. I thought that the author was very clever on what she set to do with the story. We see a tragic event in the opening of the book and then the author takes the readers on a exhilarating and emotional journey leading up to that event. I was completely captivated from start to finished. The setting is simply breathtaking. The futuristic world that is full of glamour and out of this world technology you can't help but get swept away with story and the characters life's.
The characters themselves are all so different that it was quite refreshing to read. I found myself needing to know more and more about their world and their secrets that they kept from their friends. Some you are going to love, like Avery, Rylin and Eris. And others you might hate like Leda. I hated that girl so much. The amount to times I just wanted to slap her was unbelievable. As I mentioned above, every single characters play an important role in the development of the story even the small characters like Mariel. Who I think is going to be a massive character in the next installment.
The Thousandth Floor is a brilliant, memorizing and breathtaking read. It will take the readers on such a roll-coaster of a journey that you will not be able to put it down. (Trust me I sat up until after 3am just to finish it) The author has created something really special here and she really does keep you guessing all the way to end and with a shocker of an ending that I was NOT expecting at all. However, it is set up perfectly for the sequel which I think is going to be explosive!!
