Audible listeners in the UK are now able to share their favourite
audiobook clips on social media, using Audible’s new social sharing tool Clips.
The digital feature in the Audible app, enables listeners to easily
select, save and share bite sized audio snippets from their favourite passages
with family and friends. Whether listeners savour motivational thoughts in
business books, inspirational quotes from self-help titles, the funniest lines
or most memorable moments in a novel, the feature gives users the chance to
share these unmissable experiences with others.
To celebrate the launch of this new social sharing tool, Audible
have released audio clips of some of the most inspirational quotes from
literature. The clips, narrated by some
of the world’s best storytellers and most famous voices, were taken from its
library of over 200,000 titles and Audible hopes to encourage listeners to
share the passages they find most inspirational.
Don Katz, founder and CEO of Audible said:“Audible customers are book lovers whose print books are likely to be full of their own annotations and underlines. Listeners also love talking about books, authors, and narrators they are passionate about, and clips makes it easier for our customers to start meaningful conversations with their friends and family directly from their audiobook whenever inspiration strikes! We are also excited to launch this new, easy-to-use tool that authors and narrators can use to raise awareness of their audiobooks.”

Audible invented and commercialized the first digital audio player
in 1997, and has since been at the forefront of the explosively growing
audiobook download segment. Audible continues that tradition of innovation
today by becoming the first and only provider to offer the ability to save and
share passages of audiobook content. In 2015, listeners around the world
downloaded 1.6 billion hours of audio from Audible.com outlets; Audible members
downloaded an average of more than 17 books over the course of the year. Two
thirds of new Audible members are first-time audiobook buyers.
