Most of you know I have been doing this since I started the blog. I love comparing different covers for the same book. So now that there is two of us on the blog I thought I would actually make it a regular feature on a Monday and a Friday. And since Destiny is from the US and Siobhan is from the UK it would even better. So here is todays UK vs US.

Liesl lives in a tiny attic bedroom, locked away by her cruel stepmother. Her only friends are the shadows and the mice—until one night a ghost appears from the darkness. It is Po, who comes from the Other Side. Both Liesl and Po are lonely, but together they are less alone.
That same night, an alchemist's apprentice, Will, bungles an important delivery. He accidentally switches a box containing the most powerful magic in the world with one containing something decidedly less remarkable.Will's mistake has tremendous consequences for Liesl and Po, and it draws the three of them together on an extraordinary journey.
Destiny: Once again, both of these covers are equally appealing in their own way. I love how striking the UK cover is with its bright green color. and keyhole center They both have the same image which shows the same child-like whimsical fairy-tale picture that you would expect from a story like this. However, I am just drawn to the US cover's storybook cover. It looks like a book that is old and contains a tale full of magic secrets waiting to be read. The US cover wins this one for me...but just barely!
Siobhán: I haven't read this book so I don't really know if the covers fit with the story. However, I do love the covers. They are both very eye catching. I think they both very fitting of the middle grade age group. I am really torn with both. I love the over all image on each. And even though I love the storybook image on the US one. I am drawn to the UK slightly most just because I love green LOL.

ReplyDeleteWow those are so similar... I do love the green on the UK book. But i think the US gets a leg up due to the artwork of the other characters surrounding the picture like a frame. So I say US wins but only by a tiny bit :)
ReplyDeleteI think I like the UK cover more, but it is a close call. I love the color and the way the light from the box is coming through the key hole.
