UK vs US: Stolen Away

Photobucket

Most of you know I have been doing this since I started the blog. I love comparing different covers for the same book. So now that there is two of us on the blog I thought I would actually make it a regular feature on a Monday and a Friday. And since Destiny is from the US and Siobhan is from the UK it would even better. So here is todays UK vs US.
Siobhan's Pick
UK                                       US

Stolen Away by Alyxandra Harvey
Out: 5th Jan 2012

For seventeen years, Eloise Hart had no idea the world of Faery even existed. Now she has been abducted and trapped in the Rath of Lord Strahan, King of Faery. Strahan was only meant to rule for seven years, as Faery tradition dictates, and then give up his crown to another. But he won’t comply, and now chaos threatens both worlds. The only one who can break his stranglehold on the Faery court is his wife, Eloise’s aunt, Antonia. Using Eloise to lure Antonia, Strahan captures his wife, desperate to end the only threat to his reign. Together with her best friends Jo and Devin, Eloise must place her trust in Lucas, her handsome protector, and Strahan’s mysterious son, Eldric, and forge alliances with other Fae in a dangerous attempt to free Antonia for ever
Siobhan: Come on! Is there even a contest here? Seriously, I stunning is the UK cover. Its just captures the imaginations and feels so magical. I love the dark colours and the simple image of the wings, Breathtaking. The US Cover I am sorry but I think it is just awful.

Destiny: I love the UK cover! It just illustrates the world of Faery beautifully without even having to even read the synopsis. The cover color combinations are gorgeous. The US cover colors are not as eye catching and the font title is not one I find appealing at all. Also, the UK's view of a faery wing is much more attractive than half of an almost unrealistic looking girl's face on the US cover.
Winner: UK
What do you prefer?

  2. I have to agree with you! The UK one is definitely much better!! It just looks so magical and mystical, and it would really catch my eye if I saw that book cover in a bookshop! I love the colours used, and the way the shades of blue stand out against the jet black background. Okay, I'm going on and on. I love the UK one the best! :D

  3. I love comparing covers.

I actually don't love either cover. To me the idea of the UK cover is okay. But there is not enough on it. It is too dark. And i don't think i would glance twice at it if i saw it in a book store.

The US cover has potential. But i don't like the way the girl's face looks. It if was a stunning girl and not only half her face showing (at a weird angle) then i would prefer it.

  4. I'm going to have to say the UK cover is the winner. I like the colors in the US cover if they had put some of that into the UK cover it would have been very pretty. I do not like the girls face on the US cover. Whats with the heavy makeup?!

  6. UK cover wins hands down. The picture of fairy wings would make me want to pick up this book and find out more, were as the face wouldnt really stand out as much.
