MY TEASER
The old man motioned me in with his right hand with a courtly gesture, saying in excellent English, but with a stange intonation: -

  1. Wyatt jerked as the spell hit his head, reaching up to touch the cold spot, his expression shifting to alarm. His eyes met mine, and I stood, hearing Ivy shooting at Oliver and Leon. “Son of a bitch,” Wyatt said, hatred in the expression he directed at me, and then his eyes rolled back and he dropped.

  2. I blinked. Just my luck--I died, and instead of a peaceful afterlife, I got stuck in the middle of an angelic coup d'etat.

  3. The -other- book I'm reading...

Magni wondered if Kaelb truly expected him to just stand there and wait to be sizzled. He waited until Kaelb made the mistake of turning into himself to shape the energy weapon, then he lunged forward, plunging his dagger into Kaelb's belly and yanking it upwards before twisting as he pulled it back out. He jumped back before the blood spurting from Kaelb's body could touch him.

  4. Ben pulled off his opponent's helmet and stared awestruck at Miandra, Carol's friend. She was only knocked out. Good. He stumbled to Ares and hugged his neck, tears streaming out of his eyes. Ares in turn nuzzled Ben and whistled soothingly. Finally, Ben let go and pulled the helmet off the groaning Wombanan under Ares' careful watch.

"Carol!" he cried. Through the red haze of pain in her throbbing head, she saw Ben towering over her.

"Ben," she whispered, "make it painless, please."

    "Make what painless?"

"These fights are to the death," she reminded him.

  5. Holy Moley. he'd always considered himself a face man or more importantly a man who first gazed into the eyes of a woman for a glimpse of her real soul. not possible with this one for he could only see her profile. her nose was petite and girlish, but her mouth was wide and womanly. a dynamite combination and it defently lit his fuse. he took a few pictures
