About The Book
The breathtaking finale to the USA Today bestselling Cartel trilogy.

I should have known it would always come down to this, from the very moment I laid eyes on him in that motel.

I should have known his salvation was too good to be true.

Because it's all gone now, the impossible, secret love I had for him bleeding away in the darkness that came afterwards.

Now there's only hate.

Now I just want to escape.

Even if it means I have to kill him to be free.

Before the Gypsy Brothers series there was the Cartel - from USA Today bestselling author Lili St Germain.

I am still going through the motions with this one. I finished last night and just couldn't get my thoughts together enough to even start a review. I am still struggling, so I apologise because this may end up the ramblings of a mad woman!!

Empire is the final instalment in the Cartel Trilogy. Each book in this trilogy are outstanding and with each book the story line gets darker and darker. Empire is without the darkest of the three. It's dark, brutal and sexy as hell.

At nineteen Mariana's world was torn apart. Forced to pay back a debt of her fathers she is taken by the head of the Cartel, Emilio. With the prospect of being sold as a sex slave Mariana thought she was doomed. Until she meets Dornan Ross. The son of the evil cartel boss. Dornan saves Mariana's from one prison and puts her in another but they fall in love. However, after ten years of sex and violence Mariana's feelings for Dornan changes as Dornan gives into the darkness inside. And Mariana's falls in love with some one else. But can she make it out alive?

Oh Sweet Jesus. Words can't even begin to describe how I am feeling about this one. I fell in love with Dornan in Cartel and I grew to love and hate him as the story unfolded in Empire. And even in his darkest times when the stuff he has done was truly twisted and evil and you could see him turning into a monster, I still loved him. He is the ultimate bad boy that you just want to try and fix. And poor Mariana. She was addicted to him. Addicted to the pain. They were a match made in hell.  Yeah some people would say she was suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. But in my mind, she wasn't. She truly did love Dornan but as time went on she slowly fell in love with John, Dornan's best friend and Prez of the Gypsy Brothers. I did like John, he was good for Mariana. He was kind and would never hurt her but he wasn't Dornan. The spark wasn't there with John as it was with Dornan.

Now I still haven't read The Gypsy Brothers series yet. However, I made the mistake of reading a review of book one that spoiled some of Empire. So, even though I knew what was coming I still wasn't mentally prepared for brutality of where the author took the story and characters. You could see the darkness seeping into the pages and taking the readers on one hell of a twisted and emotional roller-coaster.

If you are looking for a romance read that's full of sunshine, flowers and chocolates then do yourself a favour and find another read because this trilogy, especially Empire is far from a sweet romance. It's twisted, gritty and dark. Empire took my heart, ripped it out and crushed it into a millions little pieces. And as much as I wanted to read the Gypsy Brothers I think I may need to wait until my heart has recovered slightly.
