The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
UK: 29th Sept 2011
US: 29th Sept 2011

The day Louisiana teenager Rory Deveaux arrives in London marks a memorable occasion. For Rory, it's the start of a new life at a London boarding school. But for many, this will be remembered as the day a series of brutal murders broke out across the city, gruesome crimes mimicking the horrific Jack the Ripper events of more than a century ago. Soon “Rippermania” takes hold of modern-day London, and the police are left with few leads and no witnesses. Except one. Rory spotted the man police believe to be the prime suspect. But she is the only one who saw him. Even her roommate, who was walking with her at the time, didn't notice the mysterious man. So why can only Rory see him? And more urgently, why has Rory become his next target? In this edge-of-your-seat thriller, full of suspense, humor, and romance, Rory will learn the truth about the secret ghost police of London and discover her own shocking abilities

First I just want to say how freaking awesome does this book sounds? I think its going to fantastic!!! And now lets talk cover! Honestly I don't think there is a contest here. I love the UK cover. It so cool and the graveyard is mega creepy. Graveyards creep the hell out of me they really do but I love how the UK cover looks. So this is a winner for me. The US cover jus doesn't appeal to me at all. If I seen that in a bookstore I would walk right by it.

Winner: UK

  1. hmmm i would have to say i love the one on the right, the one with the girl lying down. i love that cover. the one on the left the girl kind of freaks me out lol

  2. thats the US cover, I really dont like that all. I love the UK one its so creepy I love that.

  3. I definitely like the uk cover more, it reminds me of the cover of my name is memory though. The us cover, honestly, is a little weird lol it does sound like a good book though :)

  4. I think that the US one is really badly made. It just looks like pictures one on top of the other, as if not much effort has been put into making it.

As for the UK one, it is quite a nice cover, but not one of my favourites.

  5. I like the US one. It might just be that I've seen it posted so much, and I really want to read this book that I've fallen in love with that cover, lol.

  6. I love the UK one it's so beautiful =)
