Description:
When Native American Fredricka ‘Fred’ Oday is invited to become the only girl on the school’s golf team, she can’t say no. This is an opportunity to shine, win a scholarship and go to university, something no one in her family has done.

But Fred’s presence on the team isn’t exactly welcome — especially not to rich golden boy Ryan Berenger, whose best friend was kicked off the team to make a spot for Fred.

But there’s no denying that things are happening between the girl with the killer swing and the boy with the killer smile...

GET HOOKED ON A GIRL NAMED FRED.

I had no expectations for this book. I went into reading it with no prior knowledge of the story. So I was pleasantly surprise that I found it such an addictive read even though the start of the story was a  little bit of a slow burner.

Hooked is told from two points of view. Fred and Ryan. Fred is a Native American girl who lands a place on the school varisty golf team. The Team don't want her there but all Fred wants to do is play golf. Ryan, is a rich boy, he doesn't want Fred on the team because she took his best friends Seth place. But as they are paired to play together there is no denying there is chemistry between them. However, Ryan has a girlfriend and friends who don't like Fred and Fred knows her family wouldn't approve of Ryan.

I took a few chapters to actually get interested in the story. I am not a golf person and I have no interest in learning about it. So that part of story bored me. However, the characters and the story beside the golf are what kept me Hooked. I was glued to the story. I finished it in around 4 hours. Fred has hard a life. Her family doesn't have much money and her mother has a drinking problem. But Fred finds her escape in golf. At school she keeps to herself but when she joins the golf team she faces some hard times especially from Seth, the boy whose place she got. Ryan, at first doesn't want to like Fred because of Seth but he can't deny that she is amazing at golf and that she is pretty and he is drawn to her and he doesn't know why. Their relationship is rocky and has a lot of drama but that makes for a good read.

Hooked is an addictive read. The author throws in so much drama especially in the 2nd half of the book that it can make your head spin! Now sometimes, drama can be a bad thing but it worked well with the story and the background of these characters and most of the drama involved Seth. Seth is a complete tool! I wanted to kill him and trust me, you will hate him as well.

Overall, I highly recommend this if you like your YA contemporary that is ful of teenage drama. Liz has created a fantastic story with memorable characters. I am really looking forward to book 2 which is about Sam (one of Fred's friends) and Riley (Ryan's sister) it should be interesting.

Argh, For an a generic cover this is ok for a YA book. However, they could have made the cover so much better. It just doesn't convey the relationship between the two main characters. It is a sweet cover but with a story like this it could have been so much more. However, I do like a colours.
