Description:
Kelly lives the life of a typical teen in the suburbs of Southern California with her football star boyfriend and loyal best friend. It's her senior year, and she's looking forward to her eighteenth birthday. But her life totally changes when she's abducted by her birth family, a family she didn't even know existed. Meeting her mother and two sisters for the first time is almost too much for her to handle. Kelly learns she is a witch born from a coven of witches with special powers. She's called back to help her family fight the evil, power-hungry witch, Victoria, and the Wizard Council, who want to destroy all that Kelly's family holds dear before the Immortality Ceremony, a ceremony that will seal the girls' fate and powers for all eternity.

To make things even more complicated, Kelly falls in love with an Indian named Max White Bear. But because of a longstanding tradition, their relationship is a hard sell to the chief of the Indian tribe.

With the war between good and evil looming, Kelly must find the strength to harness her magical powers and summon The Crystal Princess inside her.

Review:
Kimberly Norton spins an enchanting tale in The Crystal Princess. The story revolves around your everyday girl, Kelly, who one day goes from a typical day at school to fainting and waking up to a whole new world. In this new world, she learns that she has a different mother, two sisters…and is a witch. While this sounds like it would be hard for an author to plausibly pull together, Kimberly Norton blends the details of the situation together so seamlessly that you can almost believe this could happen.

Kelly takes this news in stride, which was very refreshing from the usual teen angst so common in YA novels. She embraces her powers and her inner confidence and dives right in to learning to use her powers. However, not long into her transition, she begins to experience nightmares and learns that a powerful witch and wizard are out to steal her powers and her Immortality. She and her newfound family’s coven must unite and draw together their strength to fight off this ultimate evil.

While the battle of good and evil is brewing, Kimberly Norton throws an additional twist to the tale by introducing Max, also known as White Bear. He is a member of the local Native American tribe, who has long since made peace with the land owners that no one will cross into their land and they will stay on their tribal lands. Yet the attraction between Kelly and Max is undeniable and sends emotions flying through her as she tries to sort through the chaos swirling around her.

This book is a definite must-read! Kimberly Norton’s writing is beautiful and charming, and the story lures you in so much so that you have to fight yourself to put the book down. I can easily call this one of the best books I have read all year!
