Genre: Paranormal, YA Fantasy

Description:
Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story. . .

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

Review:
Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake will originally lure you in by the hauntingly beautiful cover, but once you begin reading, be prepared to be amazed. Anna Dressed In Blood is centered around Cas, a teenage boy, and his kitchen witch mother, who move from place to place so Cas can carry on his dead father's legacy of killing ghosts.

Wielding his father's magical athame, Cas sets out in a new town to kill one of the strongest, most powerful ghosts he has ever encountered: Anna Dressed In Blood. As Cas begins to investigate the history of the mysterious Anna, he develops a circle of friends (a big no-no in his book), and quickly finds killing Anna is not going to be as easy as he planned.

Not only does the mystery surrounding Anna's death begin to unravel, Cas finds himself in the midst of an increasingly dangerous supernatural phenomenon...the ultimate battle he had been waiting for - the ghost who killed his father. Cas and his new friends are thrown into a world of magic, terror, adventure, and death, where no one knows if they will come out alive.

Coming from a male point of view, this novel will definitely appeal to fans of the television series Supernatural, as it contains many of the same elements, and in many ways Cas is not unlike the Winchester brothers.

This was the best ghost story that has been written in years. It is the ghost story readers have been looking for but haven't been able to find. Creepy, scary, and will keep you up all night turning the pages!
